Dr. Marissa Phillips, DVM - Associate Veterinarian
Background: Originally from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, just outside of the Twin Cities, Dr. Marissa Phillips always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She earned her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University before returning to Minnesota to complete her veterinary degree at the University of Minnesota. During her clinical year, she completed externships in the Chicagoland area—including one here at Countryside Veterinary Center—where she found a strong connection with the team and practice culture. After graduating in 2025, she officially joined the Countryside team.
Professional Passion: Dr. Phillips has a special interest in internal medicine, feline care, and animal behavior. While in veterinary school, she served on the board of the Animal Behavior Club and remains passionate about helping clients better understand their pets' needs and behaviors. She values building long-term relationships with clients and providing thoughtful, individualized care throughout every stage of a pet’s life. Her calm, communicative approach helps foster trust and confidence with both patients and pet parents.
Pets and Personal Interests: Dr. Phillips shares her home with Kiwi, an 11-year-old tabby cat she adopted in high school. When she returned to Minnesota for veterinary school, Kiwi came to live with her full-time after deciding she preferred life without her littermate. These days, Kiwi enjoys the calm and comfort of being a very spoiled only child. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Phillips enjoys reading, hiking, exploring Chicago, and tending to her collection of house plants. We’re thrilled to have Dr. Phillips on board and look forward to the passion and fresh perspective she brings to our team.
