Dr. Meagan Karuhn, DVM - Associate Veterinarian

Background: Dr. Meagan Karuhn grew up in Naperville and returned to her hometown after completing her education. Her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian was driven by a love for animals and a passion for medicine. She attended the University of Illinois, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences in 2018. She continued her education at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2022. Following veterinary school, Dr. Karuhn completed a Small Animal Rotating Internship from 2022 to 2023. She then worked in emergency medicine for a year before joining Countryside Veterinary Center.

Professional Passion: Dr. Karuhn has a strong background in Emergency & Critical Care, where she gained invaluable experience stabilizing and treating critically ill patients. She finds immense satisfaction in helping patients recover during their greatest time of need, even though outcomes can sometimes be challenging. Dr. Karuhn looks forward to building long-term relationships with clients and their pets, watching their furry family members grow over the years. She is passionate about client education and enjoys teaching others, whether it's clients, technicians, or fellow doctors.

Family, Pets, and Personal Interests: Dr. Karuhn recently married her high school sweetheart, in 2023. The couple has been together since 2012. Her husband works in finance and is finishing his MBA. They share their home with three dogs: two Golden Retrievers named Cordelia and Marina, and a Silver Lab named Oliver. Cordelia is relaxed and low-key, Marina is sweet but can be a bit of a scaredy cat, and Oliver, who was rescued as a Junior Surgery Animal, is a great cuddler but also full of energy.Outside of her veterinary career, Dr. Karuhn enjoys traveling and exploring new cultures. She loves being near water, whether it's on a boat, at the beach, by the lake, or the seaside, as it brings her a sense of calm. She has recently taken up reading and enjoys getting lost in a good book.
